Jet is a ten-month old ex-farm collie. He’s great with other dogs but he’s also a very affectionate boy who loves the company of his two-legged friends. Jet is super-bright and now needs a rural home with a collie-experienced owner who will help him reach his full potential by giving him both the physical and mental exercise that every collie needs. Jet has always lived with other collies and may benefit from being with another dog who can befriend and guide him.
When three year old Mabel arrived into our care from our Inspectorate, she was very undernourished. In the meantime, she’s had lots of TLC from our kennels team and has just had a lovely holiday with one of our fosterers to see how she coped in a home environment and to be looked after whilst she recovers from surgery. This is what her fosterer told us about her: “I’ve found Mabel to be an absolute sweetheart. She loves her food and is extremely attentive and responsive, so I think will be very easy to train further. I haven’t taught her any commands other than sit and wait, as she’s been recovering nearly the whole time I’ve had her. She is also now currently house trained. She can be very strong on the lead, but I have walked her on a ‘Komfi Calmer’ lead, which is similar to a figure of 8 lead, and she is much more manageable. I have found her to be good around other dogs when out on walks and in the waiting room at the vets. The same goes for children in that she seems very good around kids when out in public but I haven’t tested her in a home environment. Her biggest challenge is that she can be nervous of being held and inspected for vet visits and checking her but she has never growled or shown aggression. She is a lovely girl who will make someone a lovely companion who has time to spend to gain her trust. She loves cuddles and playing Two year old Dobbie is a great little character. He can be a little nervous when he first meets new people so he may need several visits so that he can get to know you properly. Dobbie is a great favourite with our kennels team and has been on away-days and had sleepovers with them, when apparently he’s been a very good boy! Dobbie got on well with the member of staff’s dog he stayed overnight with, and he did live previously with another dog, so we think that he may do very well in a home with a calm-natured dog. We are looking for a quiet home for Dobbie, with an experienced owner who can give him all the love and attention he deserves.
Four year old Diesel is a very loving boy with a great character. He’s affectionate (without being ‘over the top’) and he’s also quite a lazy boy, so if fell-walking is your thing he’s not the dog for you! We are looking for a rural home for Diesel where he will be the only pet, preferably with someone who has bulldog experience. Diesel is quite a weight (approximately 40kg) so we would only rehome with children over the age of fifteen.
Pudsey is a lovely friendly and affectionate boy, who loves company. He purrs loudly and enjoys his food. He is young, playful and loving. We don't normally re-home cats from Milnthorpe, but he brought himself to us. We think he will be happy in a variety of homes.
Jess was rehomed from our Branch around two years ago but was returned to us recently when her owner sadly died. Jess is a sweet and affectionate girl but she is a little bit overweight at the moment! She currently weighs 14.75kg and probably needs to be around 11kg. Despite that, Jess is an energetic little dog; she will run around and play in our exercise area and she loves to go on her walks. She also loves a good roll in the grass! Jess is such a happy little soul; she walks nicely on the lead and her recall is good. It would probably be best for Jess if she was the only pet in the home. She isn't used to children so a fairly active, adult only home with an owner who can give her a sensible diet and regular exercise would be ideal for her. She definitely doesn't want to just be a lapdog!
Handsome Buck is always pleased to see you and loves to be made a fuss of. He really is a gentle giant who will make a very loving and loyal pet. He walks very well on the lead, knows the commands Sit and Stay, and his recall is pretty good, especially if there are treats involved! Buck has been fine with other dogs that he's met on site but we would recommend that he be the only dog in a home where he will also be the only pet. Buck would love to play a big part in someone's happy family life. Please get in touch if you can make his wish come true.
