The Kennels at Milnthorpe Kennels and Cattery
We are happy to give your dogs some items from home. It is helpful to us if it is clearly labelled and is washable. This is to help us identify items that have been washed or have found their way out of the dogs kennel and run area.
Your dog has full daily access to its own run which is fully covered. As with everything we do, we adapt to the individual. In addition to thermostatic heating, all kennel units have humidity control to keep the dogs both warm and dry. We have a few units that have been designed specifically with giant breeds in mind, with bigger sleeping and outside areas. We also use this for larger families of dogs. All dogs will have time with us on a daily basis. This may be as play time, off the lead, in our secure play area. It may be for a more invigorating walk around the five acres of garden, field and orchard that are part of the Kennels. We operate a red/amber/green system for the dogs. This is about the level of experience required to walk and interact with the animal. Only our most experienced staff walk red dogs. This system allows us to build the experience of the team, whilst keeping dogs and humans safe. Many dogs have had a difficult time in the past and need the space and time to adapt to a new environment. This is something our team know well and work with every day. |
We provide bowls, bedding, treats and two daily walks all within the price.
We can cater for special diets or specific needs. Our experienced and professional team can also deal with a wide range of medication and treatments including insulin injections free of charge. For our dogs we stock as standard the following range of foods for adults; Arden Grange lamb, Bakers Chicken, Beta, Burns Chicken, Burns Pork and Potato (Sensitive range), Butchers Tripe loaf, Chappie (wet and dry), Dr Johns Silver, Skinners Field and Trial Muesli, Harringtons Chicken, Iams Chicken, James Wellbeloved Lamb Grain Free and Pedigree Chicken (Wet and Dry). We stock Burns puppy food. Anything from this range we include within the standard price. You are welcome to bring your own dog food from home or you can purchase food, including raw food from the natures menu range in our shop. We would be happy to discuss your dog's needs with you.

Vaccination Policy Please come with an up to date vaccination card. This is normally the annual booster for dogs plus kennel cough. The kennel cough vaccine is normally administered up the dog's nose. Check with your vet if you are not sure. We recommend that all pets recieve routine flea and worming treatment as recommended by your vets.
